Special Cinco de Mayo Recipe

Cinco de Mayo is our annual excuse to eat about a year's worth of guacamole and drink margaritas. Fun fact: May 5th is the 2nd highest avocado consumption day in the US, second only to the Super Bowl. Any guesses on how many millions of pounds of avocados are consumed on Cinco de Mayo?

We're digging into our archives for our signature smoky chipotle margarita recipe. You still have time to prep before the festivities begin.

Ingredients:

  • Chipotle-infused tequila (we wrap 2-3 dried chipotle peppers in cheese cloth and drop in a bottle of our favorite silver tequila; let it sit for no more than 24 hours and remove the peppers | pro tip: taste the tequila after about 8 hours to see how the flavor's coming along)
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Agave nectar
  • Hawaiian black lava sea salt for the rim (it's a nice dramatic effect)

Mix the ingredients (you decide the proportions, but if you really must know, a good ratio is 2oz tequila, juice from 1 or 2 limes, and half a teaspoon of agave nectar - more if you have a sweet tooth). Shake to get it nice and frothy.

Wet your glass rim with lime juice and rim with the lava salt.

Fill your glass with ice, and pour your margarita.
