About the Artist: Roy Trower studied graphic design at the Norwich School of Art. Every part of his work is done by hand, starting with a rough sketch, progressing to a detailed pencil drawing and then finished illustration. Each illustration takes months to complete and demands huge concentration and attention to detail, as errors cannot easily be erased or covered. Roy uses watercolour, gouache and pencils, building rich, deep and complex tones by applying translucent paint over an opaque base. In these days of computer-generated artwork, it's great to know that traditional artistic skills and talent remain as important as ever. Roy lives with his wife and family in the depths of Devon.
